![]() ![]() We're aware this might cause some complain from the players but unfortunately, this seems to be accurate. and it can be sub-optimal in some situation (usually ammunition size limitation) That distance depend of the charge diameter, design. Too close or too far, and the "jet" won't be able to focus properly. So we decided to finally bite the bullet and fix it.įor players less familiar with HEAT charge - shaped charge need to be detonated at a specific distance from the target armor in order to achieve optimal penetration. (straight from "DATA ON SOVIET AND NATO ARMOUR/ANTI-ARMOUR WEAPON SYSTEMS" by "THE ARMOUR AND ANTI-ARMOUR SUB-COMMITTEE OF THE ARMOURED WARFARE RESEARCH STEERING COMMITTEE" - document using the "Royal Armament Research and Development Establishment" as a source). ![]() but we realized along the road this shell design standoff distance is not optimal at all. The main issue / confusion about perforation is related to the standoff distance, the HEAT charge in those shells is capable of ~6-700mm of steel penetration at optimal standoff distance. The DM12 was used to develop the M830 and (afaic) the OCC 120 G1, and was made as a multipurpose ammunition - light armor, infantry, fortification and tanks, from a 1970-ish design. We had a long chat with the developers about this, so the players would have a better understanding of this modification. About the patchnote modification "Penetration values for the following HEAT shells have been reduced (the values below are in mm)" ![]()
